>> OverviewThe future of molecular and genetic medicine lies in the ability to effect and then evaluate biological changes at the level of cells and molecules in vivo. Until recently a fundamental difficulty in biomedical research has been obtaining spatiotemporal information about in vivo processes as they occur, i.e. monitoring cellular and molecular changes in response to various stimuli in intact living animals and humans. Understanding basic biological mechanisms requires that we are able to access this information, in real time, through imaging. Strategies that address this problem are the focus of this program.
